About the VR:

The EPOA Virtual Palm Oil tour is a 360° experience that gives you an insider's view on the production and harvesting of sustainable palm oil. Palm oil is extracted from the fruit of the oilpalm tree that grows in almost all tropical regions along the equator. The oilpalm is one of the highest yielding vegetable oils and its fresh fruit bunches can be harvested every two weeks. This VR tour gives you the opportunity to experience an oilpalm farm yourself. See how oilpalms grow and how their fresh fruit bunches are cut from the tree. You also learn how integrated pest management and other good agricultural practices are integrated in the farm's management. The smallholder farm visited in this VR tour has been certified according to the principles of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2013.

About the farmer:

Welcome to the farm of Titi Bonsilon. He is a leader of a group of RSPO certified smallholders in his village. He farms 5.3 hectares of land and uses many techniques that improve the economic and environmental sustainability of his plot. Since becoming certified, his costs and usage of chemicals have reduced significantly, his yield increased by 5% and his income by 20%.
