Saturated fats and their role in cardiovascular health are currently being debated both in the scientific arena and in the media. The International Expert Movement to Improve Dietary Fat Quality (IEM), The Netherlands Oils and Fats Industry (MVO) and the European Palm Oil Alliance (EPOA)  jointly convene a SAFA expert meeting on  5 and 6 November 2015 in Leiden, The Netherlands, to review the scientific state of the art concerning the relation between the consumption of SAFA rich foods and the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and ischemic stroke.

This expert meeting will consist in a one-and-a-half day workshop with experts in the field of saturated fatty acids (SAFA) and health. In four sessions, key issues presently discussed in the scientific as well as the lay media will be briefly introduced by invited experts and extensively discussed thereafter.
