Italian politicians defend palm oil

Italian politicians have submitted two resolutions to parliament defending palm oil in the face of anti-palm oil campaigns, calling it a raw material of fundamental importance for Italian industry.

This says Food Navigator in an online article today. Dorina Bianchi, one of the MP’s who forwarded a resolution, says that palm oil has been the focus of a political and media-driven smear campaign which is pushing companies to substitute palm oil with less environmental friendly, lower yielding vegetable oil.
