At EPOC 2018 we discussed how sustainable palm oil can contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). We showed how the food industry is moving towards 100% sustainable palm oil and acts together with governments and NGOs to reach a fully sustainable palm oil supply chain.

  • Address the role that sustainable palm oil plays in relation to the following SDGs:

  • Show progress on sustainable palm oil in Europe with new monitoring data and best practises on what the different actors in the supply chain have already done to achieve 100% sustainable palm oil in Europe by 2020.
  • Address developments at EU level, with updates on EU policies, cooperation with producing countries, and commitments by the food industry, NGOs and the Amsterdam Declaration Group.
  • Introduction and discussion on a call to act and cooperate in a global Pact on sustainable palm oil.

The conference was organised together with the Spanish Foundation on Sustainable Palm Oil, and with the support of the European Sustainable Palm Oil project, and in alignment with the European National Initiatives on Sustainable Palm Oil, the Palm Oil Producing Countries and the 'Amsterdam Declaration Group', in support of a fully sustainable palm oil supply chain by 2020.
