European Palm Oil Conference

"Taking responsibility in sustainability"

Protect the environment and improve socio-economic conditions

 

The European Palm Oil Alliance (EPOA) and the European Sustainable Palm Oil Advocacy Group (ESPOAG) jointly organise the European Palm Oil Conference (EPOC) 2017.

The conference will take place on Thursday 23 November 2017 at the Solvay Library in Brussels. (Click here for the route description)

The Conference will focus on the European debate on the sustainability of palm oil used in food to increase awareness on the:

  • socio-economic importance of palm oil for the livelihoods of millions of people
  • frontrunner position of the sustainable palm oil industry in protecting the environment, biodiversity and rainforests
  • commitments and achievements of key players in the palm oil supply chain
  • certification schemes and initiatives to improve sustainability throughout the supply chain

Places are limited, so please register before 1 November. Your participation will be confirmed after registration. The conference will be in English and will be organised together with important stakeholders such as the European Sustainable Palm Oil project (ESPO), National Initiatives on sustainable palm oil and palm oil producing countries. The conference is free of charge.

 

WHAT
 

EPOC 2017 will create the opportunity to:

  • strengthen the collaboration between industry, politicians, government and NGOs to reach a fully sustainable palm oil supply chain
  • address the role of palm oil in socio-economic development and the challenges to get a fully sustainable palm oil supply chain
  • showcase what the industry has done in order to reach 100% sustainable palm oil in Europe
  • present monitoring data on the production and uptake of sustainable palm oil
  • address policy developments at EU level
  • showcase the different certification schemes and multi-stakeholder projects in producing countries to promote sustainable palm oil production
